HUST Signs Landmark MoU with NASRDA to Advance Aerospace and Engineering Research

Key Highlights of the MoU:

Hillside University of Science and Technology (HUST), Okemesi, is proud to announce a significant partnership with the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA), Abuja, following the formal signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This collaboration aims to drive innovation and foster advancement in Aerospace, Mechatronics, and Mechanical Engineering, and other critical fields of study.

In a ceremony held at NASRDA’s headquarters, a HUST delegation, led by Prof. Iheanyichukwu Okoro , President and Vice-Chancellor of HUST, along with Prof. Adebesin, Provost, College of Agriculture, Life and Environmental Sciences, HUST visited to formalize the agreement. They were warmly received by Dr. Olumide Mathew Adepoju, NASRDA’s newly appointed Director-General, and a 10-member team of directors who are key stakeholders in this promising collaboration.

Key Highlights of the MoU:

  • Faculty & Staff Exchange – HUST and NASRDA will exchange faculty and technical staff to enhance teaching and research.
  • Student Placement & SIWES Opportunities – HUST students will gain annual industry placements in fields like aerospace and engineering. These opportunities will provide valuable hands-on experience.
  • Co-Supervision of Student Projects – Students will work under the joint mentorship of HUST faculty and NASRDA experts. This will promote cutting-edge research and encourage collaboration.
  • Access to NASRDA Facilities – HUST students and faculty will have access to NASRDA’s state-of-the-art laboratories and workshops. This access will drive groundbreaking research in space technology and engineering.

To ensure smooth implementation, Prof. Babatunde Rabiu (NASRDA) and Prof. Babatunde Adebesin (HUST) were appointed as MoU Desk Officers, under the supervision of the Directorate of Engineering and Space Science (ESS), NASRDA, headed by Engr. Dr. Yusuf.

This partnership not only reinforces the shared commitment of both institutions to promote scientific and technological advancements but also aims to create significant opportunities for the next generation of engineers, scientists, and researchers in Nigeria. By combining the strengths of HUST’s academic excellence with NASRDA’s vast expertise in space research and technology, this collaboration promises to pave the way for innovative solutions to some of the most pressing challenges facing the country and the world at large.
